Talented jazz flutist, composer and producer played Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center to VH1 and BET TV
Roxbury, MA – August 18, 2009 – Acclaimed jazz flutist Sherry Winston has been added to the lineup of the 22nd edition of Steppin’ Out for The Dimock Center on Saturday, November 7th at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel.
Winston will add the signature sound of her jazz flute to an already dynamic lineup that will include as many as 20 different artists and groups.
A talented musician, composer and producer, Winston’s career includes performances in some the country’s most hallowed halls of music. In addition to appearances on the legendary stages of Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Constitution Hall, Winston has performed at the White House for President and Mrs. Clinton’s last holiday party and she has appeared as a featured guest on VH1, BET TV and The Today Show, among other national shows.
“Steppin’ Out has a long tradition of bringing nationally recognized musicians to Boston for an evening of great entertainment in support of a terrific cause,” observed Ruth Ellen Fitch, The Dimock Center’s President and CEO. “We are extremely excited to have an artist like Sherry Winston join us and look forward to unique sound of her jazz flute as part of the event’s lineup this year.”
Winston’s career includes performances with musical greats like Roberta Flack, Hubert Laws and Herbie Mann. She has opened for a host of well-known artists ranging from Denise Williams, Regina Belle and Ramsey Lewis to Chaka Khan and Peabo Bryson.
To date, Winston has six albums to her credit. Her fourth, “Life is Love & and Love is You,” charted in Billboard Magazine, and features the late Grover Washington, Jr., saxophonist, Najee, guitarist, Norman Brown, keyboard wizard Bobby Lyle, and vocalist Jon Lucien. Winston’s most recent release, “For Your Love,” has received enthusiastic praise from the New York Beacon, Sounds of Timeless Jazz, the International Musician, and the Urban Music Scene.
