The Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers highlighted Dr. Lagina Bickham,Dental Director at The Dimock Center, in their monthly newsletter which focuses on oral health at community health centers.

Dr. Bickham's personal mission is obvious: to help those in need. "If you stay ready,you never have to get ready" is her personal motto. Dr. Bickham grew up in Providence, Rhode Island and is a graduate of Tufts Dental School. Dr. Bickham has been at The Dimock Center for 16 years. During that time she has implemented many positive changes. She works with her pediatric colleagues to coordinate dental care for young patients by training pediatric nurses to apply a fluoride varnish to the patient's teeth as part of their annual check up. She also fully supported one of her dental students as he set about creating partnerships with local barbershops, targeting the young men who visit there frequently. The student reached out to barbershop owners to encourage them to instruct the the young men to seek dental assistance as soon as a dental     problems ocurs. When young people are referred from the shop,Dr. Bickham tries to see them the same day.

As you can see, Dr. Bickham has dedicated herself and her team to reaching out to and providing quality dental care for those in need. She is truly one of the "heroes" that  make The Dimock Center such a special place.
